Dr. Shun-Rong Zhang is  a Principal Research Scientist working for Massachusetts Institute Technology's Haystack Observatory. His research encompasses a broad range of geospace coupling science, with a specific emphasis on perturbation and variability associated with geospace disturbance (space weather) and vertical coupling (terrestrial) processes. Additionally, he investigates upper atmospheric climatology and long-term changes. He employs primarily ground-based observations, including incoherent scatter radars and GNSS networks, as well as theoretical models. His research  has been supported by the US NSF, NASA, AFOSR, and NRL (see some of his recent projects here).  Actively collaborating with colleagues worldwide, he has authored over 200+ peer-reviewed journal papers, with 60 of them as the first author (See a list of his publications here, and ionosheric models here). Currently, he serves the community as an Associate Editor/Editorial Board member for JGR-Space Physics, GPS Solution, and Frontier in Space and Astronomy Physics.  He was honored with the COSPAR Zeldovich Award in 1996.
